Dear Honorable Lawrence CANNON:
RE: Canada-Islamic Republic of Iran Relations
Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada posted a paper about Canada and Islamic Republic in Iran Relations on its website with title of “Canada-Islamic Republic of Iran Relations.” This paper claimed that “Canada is also greatly concerned about the human rights situation in Iran and in particular, such problems as the independence of the Judiciary, arbitrary detention, freedom of expression, treatment of women and treatment of persons belonging to religious and ethnic minorities.”1 However, in March 2006, Export Development Canada which was one governmental agency of Canada, it illustrated social inequality in Iran that 10% of population was possessing 75% of Iran's wealth, and 90% of population was possessing 25% of Iran's wealth. The government agency was very clear that element of the regime was gaining wealth, and others left without any prospect for bright future. Henceforth, all Iranian from different backgrounds were suffering some form of hardship in hands of mullah in Iran, and the cleric class did not target any particular ethnic groups in Iran. Most importantly, Iranian viewed the cleric regime in Iran as a normative control model which did not have any legitimacy to govern Iran.
Last point, the cleric regime in Iran was applying simple rule of “Divide and Conquer” which was about creating an illusion that Iranian from different backgrounds were persecuted due to their backgrounds with intention of dividing Iranian based on their backgrounds, and Iranian would not be unified in their cause to topple the regime in Iran. Consequently, the theocratic regime in Iran had prolonged its life cycle for many years to come by. Most importantly, Shia Muslim follower of 12th Saints, which was state faith of Iran, was facing all forms of hardship in hands of Mullah, and was not immune from any form of brutality of mullah in Iran.
Therefore, it would be premature conclusion to assume that Iranian from different backgrounds were facing persecution due to their backgrounds because all Iranian were facing cruelty and malice of the theocratic regime in Iran.
