On July 27th, 2013 Const. James FORCILLO murdered Sammy YATIM in Toronto, Ontario Canada because he was brandishing a knife while he was on a streetcar, and caused havoc on patrons of the streetcar and dashed out of the street car. Indeed, Mr. Sammy YATIM caused a scene on the streetcar. He posed danger to the society. But did he deserve to die in hands of Toronto Police Officer James FORCILLO? What does this case tell us about race relation in Canada? According to the record Constable FORCILLO is a heavy set man who played rough sports like football. He earned a degree in psychology from York University. He attended Police Academy which qualified him to gain employment as a police officer with Toronto Police Services. Mr. YATIM was a slim build young man at age of eighteen. He had no chance of overpowering Const FORCILLO. It appears that the Crown Attorney would have slam dunk case of winning this case. However, it would not happen. Const. FORCILLO will claim during trial following statements:
- It was dark and he could not see well.
- He was afraid of Mr. YATIM.
- He had tunnel vision, and could not see well, and could not hear well.
- He was afraid of safety of others.
- He wanted to go inside of the streetcar and save anyone hurt or hiding from this unrest.
- He does not regret for what he did. He would do it again to protect and serve his community.
A judge proceeding this case would favor him, and this police officer will walk free home, and will ignore other facts that the police officers were lying about releasing Yatim's age to public, one police officer got on the streetcar and shot Yatim with a teaser gun.
The executive body will lie to protect their officer and the Crown's Office will protect the police officer, and will feel sorry for what it happened.
